The Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I MY24 continues the 35-year Silver Pigeon tradition with the proven low and slim 680 platform, while introducing updated geometry, a smoother top lever, continuous floral engraving and the modern Steelium Optimabore HP ballistic system.
The exact A3WD62LD2AA311 hunting configuration is chambered in 12/76 and features 71 cm barrels, an 18.6 mm nominal bore diameter, ventilated 6×6 mm rib, right-handed Grade 2 walnut stock, Schnabel fore-end, 20 mm Extralight recoil pad and five internal Optimachoke HP choke tubes.
The Silver Pigeon I is one of Beretta’s most recognisable hunting over-and-under shotguns. The MY24 version retains the mechanical architecture of the 680 series while refining details that are noticeable during opening, mounting and movement.
The low receiver profile, balance around the hinge pins and vertically arranged barrels create a natural line between the stock, the shooter’s eye and the rib. Grade 2 walnut and the bright engraved steel receiver preserve the classic hunting appearance, while Steelium, Optimabore HP and Optimachoke HP provide the modern technical foundation.
The barrel monobloc is guided and supported by broad trapezoidal bearing surfaces. When the shotgun is closed, two conical locking elements engage the side recesses of the monobloc and create firm contact between the barrel assembly and receiver.
This system does not require a tall or bulky receiver. The 686 therefore retains its characteristic low profile, positioning the barrel axis closer to the stock line and supporting natural mounting.
The barrel assembly pivots around two side-mounted hinge pins at the front of the receiver.
Broad contact surfaces guide the monobloc and stabilise the closing action.
Two conical locking elements engage the side recesses of the monobloc.
Loads are distributed between the main bearing and locking surfaces.
The compact construction preserves the natural stock and rib alignment.
The updated engraving is produced using five-axis laser technology, allowing the decorative pattern to follow rounded and transitional metal surfaces. The ornamentation therefore does not end abruptly on the side panels but continues smoothly across the surrounding receiver areas.
The floral composition includes leaves, flowers and bunches of grapes developed by Beretta’s master engravers. A fine micro-lined background adds visual depth and defines the main decorative elements.
Configuration A3WD62LD2AA311 is supplied with five internal Optimachoke HP choke tubes. The different constrictions allow the shotgun to be adapted to the distance, ammunition and desired shot-pattern distribution.
The stock and fore-end are made from Grade 2 walnut with an oil finish. The oil highlights the natural structure of the wood without creating a thick lacquer layer between the hand and surface.
The pistol grip positions the hand securely behind the trigger, while fine chequering on the grip and fore-end improves control in wet or cold conditions. The Schnabel fore-end has a distinctively shaped front section and preserves the classic hunting line of the model.
Selected natural wood with individual colour, contrast and grain pattern.
Highlights the natural texture and permits suitable periodic maintenance.
This exact configuration is intended for a right-handed shooter.
The revised geometry supports a higher and more natural head position.
A traditional hunting fore-end with a clearly shaped front section.
A lightweight flexible recoil pad providing stable shoulder contact.
The trigger controls the two barrels in sequence. The selector is positioned on the upper part of the safety and allows the shooter to choose the upper or lower barrel for the first shot with a short sideways movement.
After the first shot, the mechanism transfers to the second barrel. The polished stainless-steel trigger provides improved surface durability and creates the characteristic bright accent beneath the receiver.
One trigger controls the two barrels in sequence.
Allows the upper or lower barrel to be selected for the first shot.
The sliding safety is positioned on the receiver tang.
Expel fired cases when the over-and-under shotgun is opened.
On the MY24 version, the top lever has been redesigned and the release pin repositioned. This reduces the required effort and creates a smoother sensation when opening and closing the shotgun.
The characteristic balance of the 680 series remains concentrated around the hinge pins. Rather than feeling excessively barrel-heavy or stock-heavy, the shotgun moves as one complete system during mounting, tracking and changes of direction.
Supports a natural line between the shooter’s eye, rib and barrels.
Weight remains concentrated around the hinge-pin area.
Consistent width and a clear sighting line along the barrels.
Visually and structurally connect the vertical barrel assembly.
